GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s Lindsey Gray has been tabbed Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week after helping the Yellow Jackets to a 3-0 record on the week. It is the first league honor for Gray, who is the fifth Georgia Tech player to earn the league’s weekly award this season.
“Lindsey Gray has been the key to our team’s turnaround this season,” said Georgia Tech head coach Bond Shymansky. “And this past week’s play was indicative of her season-long contribution to our team’s performance.”
Gray posted three double-doubles while leading the squad in kills per game on the week in helping Georgia Tech extend its current winning streak to nine matches. She had a career-high 27 digs in Tech’s 3-2 win against Clemson Tuesday night and recorded her fourth 20-plus dig performance of the season in the Jackets’ five-game victory over Maryland on Sunday. The junior from Lenexa, Kansas, recorded her third 20-plus kill match this season against Boston College, finishing with 21 as Tech notched a 3-1 win over the Eagles.
For the week, Gray averaged 3.93 kills per game while also recording 4.29 digs, 0.59 assists and 0.29 service aces per game.
Georgia Tech will close out the 2006 regular season this weekend. The Yellow Jackets play host to Virginia Tech on Friday, November 24, and then follow up the next day with a match-up against Virginia. Times for both matches are slated for 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively.
