Georgia Tech’s ACC Men’s Basketball Schedule Announced

THE FLATS – Defending Atlantic Coast Conference champion Georgia Tech will begin its 2021-22 ACC schedule at home Dec. 5, hosting North Carolina at 4 p.m. in a nationally-televised ESPN game at McCamish Pavilion. The entire ACC schedule for all 15 teams was announced Thursday night live on the ACC Network.

The early visit by North Carolina marks the third time in head coach Josh Pastner’s tenure that the Tar Heels come to Atlanta in December to open the Yellow Jackets’ home conference schedule, and the Jackets have won both the previous two, on New Year’s Eve in 2016 and last season’s contest on Dec. 30. The Tar Heels are one of five 2021 postseason teams that will visit Tech’s campus this season.

North Carolina tips off a home ACC schedule that features five games at McCamish Pavilion in the month of January. Louisville visits for an afternoon (2 p.m.) tilt on New Year’s Day 2022 and Notre Dame comes to town on Jan. 8 (6 p.m.) before the Yellow Jackets finish off the month with a three-game homestand against Wake Forest (Jan. 19, 7 p.m.), Florida State (Jan. 26, 9 p.m.) and Miami (Jan. 29, noon).

During February, Tech entertains traditional rival Clemson on Feb. 5 (2 p.m.), N.C. State on Feb. 15 (8 p.m.) and Virginia Tech on Feb. 23, 9 p.m.) before finishing off the regular season March 5 against Boston College (noon).

On the road, the Yellow Jackets visit all the Northern-most ACC schools – Syracuse on Dec. 29 (7 p.m.), Boston College on Jan. 12 (7 p.m.), Pittsburgh on Feb. 19 (7 p.m.) and Notre Dame on Feb. 26 (5 p.m.). Tech also makes a return trip to Miami (Feb. 9, 7 p.m.), where the Yellow Jackets set a program record for margin of victory in an ACC game last February.

Pastner’s sixth Tech team plays consecutive road games three times, visiting Boston College and North Carolina on Jan. 12 and 15, Miami and Virginia on Feb. 9 and 12, and Notre Dame and Clemson on Feb. 26 and March 2.

All 20 ACC games will be televised, most of them nationally. The Jackets will appear on ESPN networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU) four times and the ACC Network 10 times. The other six games will air on the ACC’s Regional Sports Networks, comprised of regional cable networks like Bally Sports South in the Southeastern United States, which cover the entire ACC footprint.

The 69th annual ACC Tournament will be played March 8-12 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Georgia Tech opens the 2021-22 regular season Nov. 9 against Miami of Ohio, kicking off a three-game homestand that includes Stetson (Nov. 12) and Lamar (Nov. 15). Tech’s non-conference slate also includes the Big/Ten ACC Challenge date against Wisconsin (Dec. 1) at McCamish Pavilion, LSU in the annual Holiday Hoopsgiving event (Dec. 11) at State Farm Arena, and Southern California in the Jerry Colangelo Classic (Dec. 18) in Phoenix, Ariz.

Tech (17-9, 11-6 ACC last season) is coming off its first ACC championship season since 1993 and its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011. The Yellow Jackets welcome back five of their top seven scorers for head coach Josh Pastner’s sixth season, including ACC Tournament MVP Michael Devoe (Orlando, Fla.), senior forward Jordan Usher (Canton, Ga.), senior guard Bubba Parham (Snellville, Ga.), senior forward Khalid Moore (Briarwood, N.Y.) and junior guard Kyle Sturdivant (Norcross, Ga.). Those returnees are bolstered by the transfer of guard Deivon Smith (Loganville, Ga.) from Mississippi State and a freshman class ranked No. 28 in the nation.
