ATLANTA (March 18) — Georgia Tech’s Mysti Morris and Jaime Wong defeated Jarrell Starnes and Natalie The of Furman in the No. 2 doubles spot to clinch a 5-4 victory for the Jackets in women’s tennis action on Saturday, March 18, at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Morris and Wong topped the Paladin pair 8-1 to clinch the match for No. 28 Georgia Tech (9-3, 1-1ACC).
Tech led the match 4-2 after singles play, in which three Jackets won big. Mysti Morris beat Gene Holman 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 3 spot, while Jaime Wong defeated Jarrell Starnes at the No. 4 spot 6-1, 6-1. At the No. 6 spot, Laura Ozolins downed Natalie The 6-2, 6-0. With the win, Ozolins’ record in singles play moved to 10-1.
Georgia Tech fell in the other two doubles matches, but held on for the 5-4 win. The Yellow Jackets return to action Tuesday, hosting rival Georgia at 3:00 p.m. at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
