ATLANTA – Sekita Grant won at No. 2 doubles and then clinched the match with a three-set victory at No. 4 singles to lead 28th-ranked Georgia Tech (9-2) to a 5-2 victory over 30th-ranked Texas A&M (8-6) Monday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The duo of Mysti Morris and Lyndsay Shosho won at No. 3 doubles for the first win of the day by defeating Seva Iwinski and Nicki Mechem, 8-3. Grant then teamed with Catherine Gunn to clinch the doubles point, 8-5, at the No. 2 position.
Jaime Wong and Kelly Anderson quickly made the score 3-0 in Tech’s favor by winning in straight sets. Wong, competing in the No. 2 position, defeated the Aggies’ Roberta Spencer by a score of 6-2, 6-2 while Anderson played in the No. 3 slot and won 6-3, 6-4.
Sekita Grant then clinched the match at No. 4 by winning the third set easily, 6-2. She won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second by the same 6-4 score.
Freshman Lyndsay Shosho was the final winner for the Jackets on the afternoon as she won in straight sets at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 7-6.
The Yellow Jackets return to action when they travel to the University of Georgia on Wednesday for a match set to begin at 12 noon.
