THE FLATS — Georgia Tech athletics welcomes Daniel Nester to The Flats as the spirit coordinator.
As the spirit coordinator, Nester takes the position as the cheerleading head coach as well as coordinating the activities of Buzz and Gold Rush. He will work with the Georgia Tech athletics marketing and ideation departments on the creation of promotional materials.
“I am honored to join the Georgia Tech family,” said Nester. “Here at Georgia Tech, the cheerleaders, Gold Rush and Buzz are already incredible programs within themselves. I’m eager to elevate them to collegiate spirit programs that align with the mission of Georgia Tech athletics.”
“We are excited to welcome Daniel to the Georgia Tech family,” shared Georgia Tech athletics director of marketing, sales and fan experience Markeisha Everett. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and skillsets. I know that his leadership will help us take our spirit programs to the next level while being able to provide first class service to our spirit student athletes.”
Nester comes to The Flats from Bowling Green State University where he has served as the spirit program coordinator since 2014. At Bowling Green, he oversaw the cheer and dance squads as well as the mascots. He led the cheer teams to two UCA College National bronze medals in 2015 and 2017.
No stranger to the Atlantic Coast Conference, Nester was the assistant cheerleading coach at his alma mater, Virginia Tech from 2011-14. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in interdisciplinary studies.
