The Georgia Tech volleyball team had its 2005 recruiting class named the fourth-best in the nation by Volleyball Magazine. It marks the second time in the last three seasons that Tech has had its recruiting class ranked in the Top 20 as the 2002 class was ranked No. 12.
This year’s class consists of Laura DeMichelis, Michelle Kandell, Talisa Kellogg, Callie Miller and Allie Niekamp and features four players who were named Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selections in DeMichelis, Kellogg, Miller and Niekamp.
“It is very rewarding for our program, staff and recruits to know that they are so highly anticipated and evaluated,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “We feel that our program has arrived in a place where the best players are interested to find out what Georgia Tech is all about. Now we will focus on helping this great class become their best.”
The Yellow Jackets open the 2005 season on Sept. 2 against Northwestern at the University of Arizona tournament.
