Georgia Tech Volleyball Hosts Spring Scrimmage Saturday

March 16, 2006

After conducting nearly two weeks of practice, the Georgia Tech volleyball team will host a scrimmage Saturday in O’Keefe Gymnasium. The Yellow Jackets will host Auburn and Georgia State and fans are welcome to attend as admission to the scrimmage is free.

The day will begin at 10 a.m. with the three teams playing in a variety of point scoring drills. Then at 1:30 p.m., the Yellow Jackets will take on Auburn, followed by a match between Auburn and Georgia State and then ending with Tech facing the Panthers.

“We’ve been working hard the past couple of weeks on developing our offensive system with our new starting setter, Allie Niekamp,” said head coach Bond Shymansky. “We are still a young team and need to establish our tempo and aggressive style in competition and Saturday is a good opportunity for us to step forward and test ourselves mentally and physically. I know our team is excited to compete again and has been working hard to put our program back to the status we expect.”

This is the first of three spring scrimmages the Yellow Jackets will host this year.
