Yellow Jacket Invitational Schedule of Events
ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track and field teams will host the annual Yellow Jacket Invitational, Friday-Saturday, March 31-April 1, at the George C. Griffin Track. The outdoor meet will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday with the men’s and women’s hammer throw.
Live results will be kept at www.deltatiming.com. All home track meets at the Griffin Track are free admission.
Several Yellow Jackets achieved NCAA Region Qualifying standards at the Walt Disney World Invitational last weekend.
On the men’s side, sophomore Jerome Miller, freshmen Juan Cave and Nigel Orr, and redshirt freshman Andy Powlen posted NCAA marks. Miller and Cave cleared the high jump bar at 6 feet, 10 ¾ inches.
Orr finished the long junp with a NCAA mark of 48 feet, 5 1/4 inches, while Powlen finished the shot put with a qualifying mark of 57 feet.
On the women’s side, senior Brandy Depland, junior Fatmata Fofanah, sophomore Shantia Moss, senior Andriane Lapsley and freshman April Phillips qualified for the NCAA East Region Championships.
Depland tallied NCAA marks in the long and triple jump events, posting marks of 19 feet, 11 inches, and 43 feet, 5 ¾ inches.
Moss and Fofanah crossed the 100-meter high hurdles finish line in first and second place, with qualifying times of 13.50 and 13.60, respectively.
Lapsley finished second in the 100-meter dash with a NCAA Region time of 11.44 for the Jackets. Phillips posted a mark of 47 feet, 1 ½ inches, to attain a NCAA Region mark in the shot put for Tech.
