ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team (5-1) will look to bounce back from a tough home loss when it meets Furman (1-3) Wednesday at the Bill Moore Tennis Center beginning at 2:30 p.m.
“We have played Furman for a long time and they always fight hard,” head coach Kenny Thorne said. “They have some good local players on their team so they will have fan support. Our guys are working on getting better and better each match. We have work to do but we have guys that are willing to do it. I look forward to an energetic match and count on improvement from last match.”
The series between the two schools has been one-sided with Tech holding a 21-4 series record. However, Furman won last year’s meeting when they came to Atlanta and beat the Yellow Jackets, 4-3.
Tech enters the match after suffering their first loss of the season to visiting Auburn last Thursday. Senior David North and freshman Eliot Potvin earned wins for the Jackets. North is a perfect 4-0 in singles play during the dual match season.
Tech continues its season-opening homestand against South Carolina on Sunday, February 24 for a 1:00 p.m. start.
