ATHENS, Ga. (AP) – Megan Darrah and Sherill Baker each scored 16 points to lead No. 17 Georgia to a 72-66 win over previously unbeaten Georgia Tech Sunday.
Georgia Tech (5-1) led 53-51 with eight minutes to play, but Janese Hardrick, who scored 14 off the bench, sparked a 14-2 run by the Lady Dogs (5-2) to build a 65-55 lead at 3:44 after a layup by Hardrick.
Georgia hit five of eight free throws in the last 42 seconds to hold off Tech.
The state rivals played in Athens for the first time since 1989.
