Georgia Tech Springs to No. 13 in Latest AVCA Top 25

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Georgia Tech volleyball (15-3, 6-2 ACC) flew up to a season-high No. 13 in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 Women’s Poll, the AVCA announced on Monday.

The ranking marks the highest for the Jackets since being listed No. 6 on Nov. 25, 2020 at the conclusion of last fall. Since appearing in the Top 25 at No. 12 on Sept. 30, 2020, Tech has been listed in 31 straight top 25 polls to date. The Jackets are joined in the poll by No. 2 Louisville and No. 4 Pitt among the ACC ranks. Tech was also tabbed No. 10 in the NCAA’s Rating Percentage Index after being listed 8th a week ago.

Tech rises three spots from No. 16 last week for its highest ranking of the season following a flawless ACC weekend in which the Jackets swept Clemson on the road before returning home to sweep Duke in less than an hour and a half.

Georgia Tech has now won 47 of its last 56 matches dating back to 2019. The Yellow Jackets have won 28 of their last 32 matches at home in O’Keefe Gymnasium and are a perfect 7-0 in true road matches this season, going 5-0 away from The Flats in ACC play.

On the year, Georgia Tech boasts some of the top numbers in the country, ranking fourth in the nation and leading the league in kills per set (14.47) while placing 12th in the NCAA and third in the ACC in assists per set (13.16).

Junior outside hitter Julia Bergmann has been the driving force behind Tech’s vaunted attack, leading the ACC in both points per set and kills per set. On a national scale, her 5.27 points per set rank 11th in the country while her 4.53 kills per set are good for 16th in the nation. Senior setter Matti McKissock has been the architect behind the Yellow Jackets’ strong assist numbers, leading the ACC and placing 14th in the nation in assists per set (11) as she continues her climb in Georgia Tech history, owning the sixth most career assists of all time and second most career assists during the 25-point rally scoring era.
