ATLANTA – Georgia Tech is ranked 12th in Collegiate Baseball’s 2009 preseason poll, and the Yellow Jackets are one of four Atlantic Coast Conference schools to appear in the publication’s top-25, as announced earlier this month.
The Yellow Jackets return eight starters in the field and six of their top 10 pitchers from last year’s team that went 41-21 and advanced to the finals of the NCAA Athens Regional.
North Carolina is the ACC’s highest-ranked team in the preseason listing, appearing at No. 2 in the rankings, while Florida State joins the Tar Heels in the top-10 with a No. 7 ranking. Tech (12) and Miami (18) round out the ACC schools appearing in the top-25 while Clemson, at No. 26, also appears in Collegiate Baseball newspaper’s Fabulous 40 preseason NCAA Division I baseball poll.
