Marko Rajevac won at singles and doubles Tuesday afternoon to lead the Georgia Tech men’s tennis to a 4-3 win over Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. With the win, the Yellow Jackets improve to 8-6 on the season, claiming their first win on the road this season, while the Sun Devils fall to 6-6.
Tech opened the match claiming the doubles point by winning each of the three matches. Rajevac and David North combined to defeat Chris Biro and Jonathan Kinsella at No. 1, 8-4. Tech then captured the point as Jose Muguruza and Sukhwa Young paired together to beat Mike Beatty and Clinton Letcher, 8-5. In the final doubles match, Noah Tyler and Scott Blackmon teamed together to defeat Ryan McBride and Nick Hegarty, 8-5.
The Jackets’ wins in singles came at No. 3 as Rajevac held on to defeat Kinsella in a tight match, 7-6 (5), 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), Jordan Delass won at No. 5 singles over Hegarty, 7-6 (2), 2-6, 6-1 and George Gvelesiani won at No. 6 singles over Beatty, 7-5, 6-0.
Tech will return to action Thursday when they take on No. 21 Tulane in Tempe, Ariz. at 3:30 p.m.
