The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team defeated UC Santa Barbara 4-2 in Santa Barbara, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The Yellow Jackets snuck in singles matches against the host Gauchos before rainy weather ended the match. Georgia Tech claimed victories at the No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles positions. Doubles play was canceled because of the rain.
Sophomore Roger Anderson defeated Marcin Kosakowski. 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Senior Romain Coirault defeated UCSB’s J.J. Stewart, 7-6, 6-4 at No. 2. Sophomore David Wright topped Scott Schnugg 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3. Freshman Alex Navinkov improved to 6-3 this spring with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory over Alex Yaftali at No. 6.
Georgia Tech improved to 3-2 on the young season. The Yellow Jackets return home to host Georgia State on Feb. 22 at 2:30 p.m.
