GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech’s football schedules through 2024 became slightly clearer Tuesday afternoon when the Atlantic Coast Conference announced rotating division crossover for the next 11 years.
ACC teams play eight conference games each season – six within their division, one against a “permanent” crossover opponent and one against a rotating crossover foe. Georgia Tech’s permanent partner from the Atlantic Division is Clemson.
The 12-year cycle for crossover opponents actually begins this fall when Georgia Tech hosts Syracuse October 19 in Bobby Dodd Stadium. The Yellow Jackets won’t see the Orange again until 2020 when Tech makes its first trip to Syracuse’s Carrier Dome.
In 2014, the Yellow Jackets will play at NC State. The last time Tech played the Wolfpack – a 45-35 Yellow Jacket victory in Raleigh – came in 2011.
Florida State returns to the schedule in 2015 when the Seminoles visit Bobby Dodd Stadium. Tech, which lost to FSU in the 2012 ACC Championship Game, 21-15, will play the `Noles in a regular season game for the first time since a 49-44 win in Tallahassee in 2009. Florida State will make its first trip to Grant Field since 2008.
