ATLANTA – The entire 2009 Georgia Tech football season and other programming returns to the Columbus, Georgia, radio market for the first time in several years on WHAL-AM (1460). Georgia Tech Sports Properties (ISP Sports) has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Fox Sports affiliate to broadcast each game in the upcoming season and the 2010 campaign, along with head coach Paul Johnson’s weekly call-in show.
The Yellow Jackets return 17 starters from last year’s 9-4 squad that tied for the Coastal Division title of the ACC. Johnson, the ACC Coach of the Year in 2008, will return 10 starters on offense headlined by ACC Player of the Year, Jonathan Dwyer.
“WHAL, Fox Sports 1460 is delighted to air Georgia Tech football in the Columbus area this fall. It’s been several years since the Yellow Jackets were on in this market and we know that their fans will be happy to be able to follow the team in what promises to be an exciting 2009 season,”Jennifer M. WHAL-AM and ISP Sports exclusive coverage of Georgia Tech football will begin on Wednesday night, August 26, with the season premiere of “The Paul Johnson Radio Show”, live from Fox Sports Grill, in Atlanta. The one-hour program , co-hosted by Wes Durham, begins at 7 p.m.
The 2009 season will kick-off on Saturday, September 5, when the Yellow Jackets host Jacksonville State at Bobby Dodd Stadium / Grant Field, with network coverage beginning at 12 noon. Kick-off is 1 p.m.
