Georgia Tech Fans Have Opportunity to Own Piece of History

THE FLATS – Select Georgia Tech football fans have the opportunity to own a piece of history, as the Georgia Tech Athletic Association puts game-worn white “honeycomb” helmets on sale on Monday, May 14

A very limited number of the game-worn helmets that the Yellow Jackets have donned in some of their most memorable recent victories will go on sale on Monday at 10 a.m.. To be eligible to purchase, the buyer must be at least one of the following:

  • a 2018 football season-ticket holder;
  • an active Alexander-Tharpe Fund member at the Heisman level or above or a Life Member;
  • a contributor to the 2018 Georgia Tech Football Recruiting Challenge (at any level).

Fans that weren’t eligible when the sale was announced last week had the opportunity to become eligible by doing one of the following by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, May 13:

Eligible buyers can purchase helmets on a first-come, first-served basis. The $600 purchase price includes shipping. Deliveries will be made within two weeks. All proceeds will go towards the renovation of Georgia Tech football’s student-athlete lounge and recovery area.

The helmets available for purchase were worn by the Yellow Jackets during key wins over Miami, Pitt and Clemson in 2014, the “Miracle on Techwood Drive” triumph over No. 9 Florida State in 2015 and the 33-18 victory over Kentucky in the 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl.

The white “honeycomb” helmet design is being discontinued as part of Georgia Tech athletics’ brand refinement and transition to adidas.

All eligible buyers were sent an email confirming eligibility. If you meet the requirements but did not receive an email or have any other questions, please contact the Georgia Tech athletics ticket office at 1-888-TECH-TIX or one of the following backup numbers:
