ATLANTA – Georgia Tech will head to Tallahassee, Fla., on Monday to compete in the 2005 ACC Cross Country Championships. Sophomore Nazar Trilisky will lead the men’s team while the women’s team will be paced by another sophomore, Nisha Kurian. The men’s 8K race will start at 8:30 a.m. and the women’s 6K race will follow at 9:30 a.m. Both races will be run at Miccosukee Greenway Park.
The men’s team will look to improve on their eighth place finish in last year’s ACC meet. In four races this year, the Jackets have placed in the top-10 twice, finishing second at the Mercer Atlanta Invitational and sixth at the Florida State Invitational. Nazar Trilisky has led Tech this season with one overall top-10 finish along with finishing as the Jackets’ top runner in three of four races. Tech will also look to juniors David Herren and Paul Specht for strong performances as they have consistently finished in the top five among Tech runners this season.
On the women’s side, the Jackets have placed in the top-10 as a team in three of four races on the season and will be led by sophomores Nisha Kurian and Elena Linn. Juniors Mary Chind and Jenny Sims will also look to make an impact at the season’s final ACC meet. Kurian has one top-10 and one top-20 finish on the year, placing eighth overall at the Mercer Atlanta Invitational and 19th at the Florida State Invitational. She has finished as Tech’s top runner in three of four meets this season. Elena Linn has also been one of the Jackets’ top performers this year with a top-10 and top-25 finish overall. The women finished 10th at last year’s ACC Championships.
