CLEMSON, S.C. – Friday night’s Atlantic Coast Conference series opener between No. 4 Georgia Tech and No. 20 Clemson was suspended due to rain with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning and the score tied 6-6. The game will be resumed at 5:15 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, and game two of the series will begin at 7 p.m. or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the resumed game.
On Friday night, Clemson jumped out to a 4-0 lead through the first four innings, including a two-run homer from Michael Johnson in the first inning. The Yellow Jackets stormed ahead with six runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a grand slam and team-leading 14th home run from freshman Micah Owings. The Tigers tied the score at 6-6 with Russell Triplett’s two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The game will be picked up on Saturday with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. Clemson’s Michael Johnson will be batting against Tech reliever Brian Burks.
