THE FLATS – Georgia Tech head men’s tennis coach Kenny Thorne officially announced the addition of Joseph Gandolfo for the 2018 season on Thursday, in this fall’s early signing period.
“Joseph is a very good addition to Georgia Tech tennis. We look for student-athletes who love the game of tennis and understand and appreciate the lifelong benefit of a Georgia Tech degree,” Thorne said. “Joseph has excelled in both tennis and academics so he will develop well in our program. He already has some of the best doubles instincts I’ve seen from any of the junior tennis players in the nation. He made the quarterfinals in doubles in the biggest national tournament in the U.S. We believe he will develop and excel in doubles as well as in singles.”
A Johns Creek native, Gandolfo currently ranks No. 70 in the country in TennisRecruiting.net’s rankings and sixth overall in the state of Georgia and will enter college as a five-star recruit. Tallying a 35-15 singles record overall, including a 4-1 record against Blue-Chip players, Gandolfo also won the state doubles championship in 2015. He also went on to finish second in the 2015 national doubles championship.
Gandolfo will officially join the Yellow Jackets in the fall of 2018.
