Gameday Information for Fans Attending Tech-UNC Football Game This Weekend

Sept. 25, 2009

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech is asking for fans attending this weekend’s football game between the Yellow Jackets and Tar Heels to make plans to arrive at the stadium early Saturday.

The following is a list of events/changes in and around the Bobby Dodd Stadium area this weekend::

1. Fans are encouraged to arrive early at the gates as additional security procedures will be in place at Bobby Dodd Stadium for this weekend’s game. A reminder that a number of items are strictly prohibited from Bobby Dodd Stadium, including book bags and other large purses/bags, strollers, umbrellas and large stadium seats. A list of additional prohibited items can be found on page 10 of the 2009 Football Fan Guide.

2. Georgia Tech Athletics has updated parking maps and directions to all parking areas, and those are now available on the Georgia Tech Athletics Parking Website. Also included on this site are areas for fans to catch transportation shuttles which travel to and from the stadium, as well as updates on road closures and detours around campus on game day.

3. Due to the chance of inclement weather and following the situation Clemson faced last week (with a pair of lightning delays during its game against Boston College), we want to remind Tech fans of the evacuation procedures at Bobby Dodd Stadium, which is also found in the 2009 Football Fan Guide.

In the event that the Georgia Tech Athletic Association deems it necessary to evacuate Bobby Dodd Stadium, an announcement will be made by the Public Address Announcer advising fans of the need to exit the stadium. Upon hearing this announcement, please exit in an orderly fashion. Stand Managers and security personnel will be on hand to direct and assist patrons. Guests are to exit through the nearest portal and exit through the same gate marked as the entrance on their ticket. Patrons are asked to return to their vehicles and tune in to AM 790 The Zone and WYAY-FM 106.7 for updates on when the game will resume. Fans will be permitted to return to the stadium by showing their ticket once the situation has cleared.
