Four Jackets Ranked Nationally Preseason

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis placed four singles players and one doubles team in the ITA National Preseason Rankings announced on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets boast two in the nation’s top 30 in Carol Lee (No. 9) and Kylie Bilchev (No. 28).

A two-time All-American, Lee led Georgia Tech from the No. 1 singles position all last season, compiling a 29-12 overall record and went 17-7 in dual singles matches. Lee earned a top-16 seed in the NCAA Singles Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals to mark the deepest run of her career. A mainstay in the national singles rankings, Lee climbed as high as No. 7 last season.

Bilchev produced a 27-8 overall singles record, mainly from the No. 2 position last season, and spent the entire spring ranked in the nation’s top 50 in singles. She climbed as high as No. 23 nationally, earned second-team all-ACC accolades and made her first appearance in the NCAA Singles Championship.

Also joining Lee and Bilchev in the national singles rankings are Mahak Jain at No. 81 and Alejandra Cruz at No. 87. Jain compiled a 25-12 overall singles mark, including a 10-3 Atlantic Coast Conference record, marking one of two Yellow Jackets to own double-figure conference wins. Cruz put together an impressive freshman campaign, going 25-13 overall in singles and 16-7 in dual matches. She was tabbed a two-time ACC Rookie of the Week, competing mainly at the No. 4 singles position.

As a doubles team, Bilchev and Cruz went 19-12 overall last season and rose as high as No. 69 in the national rankings. The duo broke into the national rankings in March after collecting a win over then-No. 3 Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig from North Carolina.
