ATLANTA – Georgia Tech’s Ashlee Kidd, Chaunte Howard, Montrell Person and Dana Rogers will all compete at the 2005 Indoor NCAA Track & Field Championships, Friday-Saturday, March 11-12, in Fayetteville, Ark., at the University of Arkansas.
Howard, a native of Riverside, Calif., will try and defend her indoor national title in the women’s high jump at Arkansas from a year ago. The junior All-American cleared the bar at 6’3.50″ to set a Tech school record. Howard won her 19th straight high jump competition at the indoor ACC meet, claiming her fifth high jump conference crown.
Kidd will be competing in her second straight indoor championship meet. The sophomore All-American finished 16th at indoor NCAAs in the women’s 400 meters with a time of 54.67. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native garnered All-ACC honors for the second straight season for the Jackets in the 200 and 400 meters. She ran a season-best time of 53.35 at the Iowa State Qualifier last weekend.
Person, a native of Merriville, Ind., posted a season-best time of 7.77 at the Alex Wilson Invitational in South Bend, Ind., last weekend in the men’s 60-meter high hurdles, 1/100th of a second off his own school record. He won his second indoor ACC crown in as many years in the 60m hurdles at the indoor ACC Championships and will be running in his second indoor NCAA meet this season, after finishing 12th last year with a time of 7.80.
Rogers qualifiers for her first indoor NCAA Championship this weekend in the women’s 60m hurdles. A native of East Point, Ga., Rogers ran a personal-record time of 8.21 in the 60m hurdles at the Alex Wilson Invitational last weekend. She claimed her first ACC crown in the sprint hurdles at this year’s indoor ACC Championships.
