ATLANTA – Former Georgia Tech standout Kasha Terry, who finished her career on the Flats in 2006, has been named to the final roster for the Indiana Fever to begin the 2006 WNBA season.
Terry finished her career as one of the top shot-blockers in school history and was taken in the second round of the WNBA Draft by the Fever, becoming just the third Yellow Jacket in the history of the program to be selected in the WNBA Draft.
The Douglasville, Georgia native is one of just two rookies on the Fever roster, with the other being a familiar face in North Carolina’s La’Tangela Atkinson.
Atkinson and Terry join a team that advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals a year ago. The 2005 team finished the regular season with a 21-13 record and went 2-2 in the postseason. The Fever were led by Tamika Catchings and Tully Bevilaqua, who both return for the 2006 season.
Terry becomes just the second Yellow Jacket to make an opening-day roster, with the other being Kisha Ford, Georgia Tech’s all-time leader in scoring.
Indiana begins the 2006 regular season when it hosts the Detroit Shock on Saturday, May 20 at 7 p.m. The first chance that Yellow Jacket fans will be able to catch the Fever in the southeast will be when Indiana travels to Charlotte on Friday, June 9. That game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
