Fofanah, Jack and Morgan Named Wendy's Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Track standout Fatmata Fofanah, basketball all-star Jarrett Jack and swimming star Sam Morgan were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, February 28, 2005.

Fofanah, a sophomore from Bronx, N.Y., led the Yellow Jackets at the Clemson Classic last Saturday afternoon. Fofanah, a native of Bronx, N.Y., posted a NCAA Provisional time of 7.70 in the 55-meter high hurdles to finish first and set a new Clemson Indoor Track Record.

Jack, a junior from Ft. Washington, Md., averaged 20.5 points in two Tech games last week, including 20 in a 60-56 loss to No. 7 Duke and 21 in a 76-72 victory at Miami. Jack shot 55.2 percent from the floor, went 3-for-5 from three-point range, and 6-for-8 from the free throw line. He also had eight assists and four steals in the two games.

Morgan, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., won the 1650-yard freestyle with a NCAA Automatic qualifying time of 14:54.71 to break the pool record and lead Georgia Tech to a third-place finish (429 pts.) at the Men’s ACC Swimming and Diving Championships. Morgan also posted a third place finish in the 500 freestyle to earn all-ACC honors. The Yellow Jackets improved on a fifth-place finish a year ago and finished third for just the second time in school history.
