Florida State Slides by Georgia Tech Men's Tennis

ATLANTA (Apr. 16) — The Georgia Tech men’s tennis team took a commanding 3-0 lead over the Florida State Seminoles (13-9, 4-4 ACC), but couldn’t hold on as they dropped the match 4-3. The match was the last of the regular season for the No. 70 Jackets, leaving them with a record of 10-12 (4-4 ACC).

The match was clinched by 50th ranked SeminoleXavier Luscan’s 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 vistory over Sergio Aguirre in the No. 1 singles spot. Roger Anderson continued to play well, taking out Michael Ingham, ranked 97th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 singles spot. David Wright also grabbed his second singles win of the weekend 7-6 (4), 6-3 over Noah Schnell in the No. 3 singles spot.

Georgia Tech started out the afternoon by winning the doubles point, taking two of three matches. Tim Bibby and Romain Coirault defeated Florida State’s Rodrigo Laub and Luscan in the No. 1 spot 8-6. In the No. 3 spot, Jackets Sergio Aguirre and Jason Jeong beat Jeff Scarella and Michael Ingham 8-3.

Next up for the Yellow Jackets is the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament April 21-23 at the Raquet Club of the South in Norcross, GA.
