Flores, Jones Earn All-ACC Honors

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis seniors Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores collected 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference all-conference honors as announced by the league office on Thursday. Jones was named to the first team, while Flores earned second-team recognition. The honors were determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

Boasting a 17-8 overall singles record, Jones has led the Yellow Jackets from the No. 1 position all season long. She is 16-7 in dual play at the top spot and went 9-2 against league opponents. Currently ranked No. 5 nationally in singles, Jones has spent the entire season ranked in the top 15, climbing as high as No. 2 on March 30. This marks Jones’ third All-ACC honor, having been named to the first team in 2019 and second team in 2018.

Leading Tech in singles victories with an 18-6 overall mark, Flores earned second-team honors to mark her first All-ACC recognition. On a four-match win streak, Flores went 17-5 in dual play and 8-5 against ACC opponents, leading the Jackets mainly from the No. 2 singles spot. The Fort Dodge, Iowa, native is currently ranked No. 20 nationally in singles.

Flores and Jones have combined as one of the nation’s best doubles teams in the country, being ranked top five all season. The Jackets spent two consecutive weeks ranked No. 1 in the country and currently sit at No. 2. Flores and Jones have combined to go 22-3 overall this season, including a 20-3 dual mark and 8-1 record against ACC opponents.
