ATLANTA – Five Yellow Jackets will compete against some of the top junior, collegiate and professional tennis talent in the region this weekend, as the Bill Moore Tennis Center serves host to the 2008 Holiday Tennis Classic, Dec. 26-31.
“The Holiday Classic has become a nice traditional Christmas tournament,” Georgia Tech head coach Kenny Thorne said. “We get a chance to mix some of the top ATP players locally, with the top junior and collegiate players in the region for some solid play. It is very fun and we are looking forward to another great year.”
Representing themselves, current Jackets Doug Kenny, Kevin King, Dusan Miljevic, Austin Roebuck and Ryan Smith will compete in the six-day indoor tournament that includes former No. 1 ATP doubles player in the world Don Johnson.
Former University of North Carolina standout Raian Luchici took the 2007 singles title, defeating current ATP top-100 ranked player Bobby Reynolds.
Play will start with two matches on Friday at 3 p.m., and conclude with the finals on Wednesday, Dec. 31. Updated draws and results can be found at www.tennisinformation.com.
