Atlanta – Five Yellow Jackets are among the best in their region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s Regional Rankings released Friday.
Four Members of the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team rank among the top 30 singles players in the ITA’s Mideast Region, while one Tech tandem ranks among the top five in doubles in the region.
Junior All-American David North holds the ten spot in the singles rankings after posting a much improved 14-and-4 fall record for the Jackets.
Fellow junior Jordan DeLass, who finished his fall singles campaign 4-and-8, is ranked 23rd in the region. Jose Muguruza, who sat out of competition this fall after wrist surgery, and senior transfer Eric Molnar both round out the rankings, tied for 30th.
George Gvelesiani and David North, who lost only once this fall, hold the three spot in the doubles rankings. The pair’s lone loss came in the finals of the ITA Regionals in Tulsa, Okla. They finished the fall season with a 5-and-1 record.
The Jackets open their 2007 spring campaign at 10 a.m. on February 3 when they host Radford and Georgia Southern at the Bill Moore Tennis Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.
