Falconi Qualifies for US Open Main Draw

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Former Georgia Tech All-American Irina Falconi defeated Stephanie Dubois of Canada, 6-3, 6-1, Saturday to qualify for the Main Draw of the 2010 US Open.

Falconi, who turned pro earlier this summer, will make her first appearance in the main draw of a Grand Slam. The main draw is scheduled to begin Monday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

In qualifying, Falconi, who is ranked No. 385 in the world, upended and the 211th, 118th and 136th-ranked players to get through the qualifying draw.

Falconi will face 19th-seeded Flavia Pennetta of Italy Monday afternoon. For more information, please visit the US Open website.
