Gainesville, Fla. – Christopher Eubanks won a pair of matches on Saturday to move into the quarterfinals in singles, while two Georgia Tech teams continued to march through the doubles bracket at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional.

SINGLES UPDATE — Eubanks needed three sets but got by Reece Acree of Central Florida in the round of 32, then captured a straight-set win over Miami’s Christian Langmo in the round of 16. The 6-foot-7 Tech sophomore, ranked 24th in the nation, earned a quarterfinal match Sunday against 33rd-ranked Diego Hidalgo of Florida.

Cole Fiegel was eliminated by the Gators’ McClain Kessler, and Michael Kay was ousted by the Hurricanes’ Max Andrews.

Meanwhile, Nathan Rakitt picked up a pair of victories in the consolation bracket, earning straight-set victories over Ignacio Jimenez of Florida Atlantic and Oliver Landert of Florida Gulf Coast.

DOUBLES UPDATE — Only the round of 16 was scheduled for doubles Saturday. Casey and Michael Kay toppled North Florida’s Julian Bradley and Jonathan Deautriell, while Eubanks and Rakitt got past Georgia’s Nick Wood and Walker Duncan to reach Sunday’s quarterfinals.

HEAD COACH Kenny Thorne SAYS — “Our doubles went well again today, winning by two breaks of serve in each match. The Kays have been tough together. We still have some things to improve, but we’re heading in the right direction. Chris did a great job in singles of executing some of the things we’ve been focusing on. He’s competing the right way. Nathan was tough today in singles and doubles. Elijah won another match this morning and is starting to fight harder and more consistently. Tomorrow will be a good challenge for everyone.”
