THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis junior Christopher Eubanks was named the men’s tennis ACC Player of the Week as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is the second time this season Eubanks received the award with the first coming on March 28.
The Atlanta native went 2-0 this week, advancing to an overall 13-1 record and 8-0 in conference singles matches. No. 5 Eubanks downed two ranked opponents on the weekend He topped No. 72 Spencer Furman of Duke in straight sets 6-3,6-4 on Friday before cruising to a 6-1,6-2 win over No. 114 Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff of Louisville on Sunday afternoon in front of a home crowd at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
Eubanks has been in the top 10 of singles players since April 2016. The 6-foot-7 All-American has been ranked has high as fourth this season and has held the No. 1 spot for the Yellow Jackets since the 2015-16 season.
Eubanks and the rest of the Yellow Jackets look to keep their four-match ACC winning streak alive on the road with two matches in Virginia this week. The team plays at No. 4 Virginia in Charlottesville on Thursday, April 13 and in Blacksburg against Virginia Tech on Saturday, April 15.
