Eight Jackets Named to CSC Academic All-District Teams

THE FLATS – Eight members of the Georgia track and field teams have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team.

Nominated student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s competition. The student-athlete is eligible once they complete one full calendar year at their institution and is at least a sophomore athletically/academically.

Men’s Academic All-District Honorees:
Chris Cherono, Biomedical Engineering
Myles Collins, Business Administration
Cole Miller, Material Science and Engineering
Nick Nyman, Business Administration
John Watkins, Electrical Engineering

Women’s Academic All-District Honorees:
Sheleah Harris, Computational Media
Shanty Papakosta, Earth & Atmospheric Sciences
Lydia Troupe, Psychology

Myles Collins leads the group with the highest grade-point average. Throughout the season, these Jackets represented Tech on a conference, regional and national level. All eight of the Tech’s selections competed at the ACC Outdoor Championships.

Among the honorees is two-time ACC Champion, Shanty Papakosta. While balancing academics and athletics this season, Papakosta was named an All-American and became Tech’s first conference champion in the women’s high jump since legendary alumna, Chaunte Howard. In addition to Papakosta, the group features Sheleah Harris and John Watkins who were also All-ACC honorees and NCAA East Preliminary Qualifiers.
