Dubard, Jordan Pace Jackets on Day One of Clemson Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. – Senior Alphonso Jordan captured the triple jump, while sophomore Mary Kate DuBard took the 5000 meter run to lead the Georgia Tech men’s and women’s track & field team’s on day one of the Clemson Invitational.

Action kicked off for the Jackets in the women’s 60 meters, where Taylor Davidson registered a third place finish in the final after crossing the finish line in 7.72. In the men’s portion of the 60 meters, Perron Jones was Tech’s top finisher in sixth with a time of 6.99.

In the men’s distance medley, the team of Tim Guglielmo, Joseph Stowe, Mike Lawson, and Cameron Reid finished second with a time of 10:.41.42. Next up was the women’s 5,000 meter run, in which Dubard captured the top spot with a time of 18:23.18. The event was a clean sweep at the top for the Jackets, as Annie Martin finished second in 18:55.74 and Betsy Kim took third in 19:00.44.

Next up in the women’s high jump, Bianca Stewart was Tech’s top finisher with a 5’11” effort to garner a third place finish. After the women’s high jump, the men’s triple jump commenced, which saw Jordan capture the top spot after posting a 51’5″ effort in the finals.

Rounding out Tech’s top finishers on the night was Mellany Stanislaus, who finished third in the women’s portion of the triple jump with a 39′ mark.

Action concludes tomorrow morning at the Clemson Invitational Fans. The first event will be the men’s high jump at 10:00 a.m., while the first running event will be the 400m dash, held at 12 p.m. Fans are reminded that results and a full recap will be available on Ramblinwreck.com after competition wraps up tomorrow.
