ATLANTA – Kacie Anson and Dasha Potapova will compete against Kristi Miller and Alison Silverio for the doubles title of the Baylor Invitational at Georgia Tech’s Bill Moore Tennis Center Thursday at 2 p.m. Due to time constraints, the final could not be contested in Waco, Tex. this past weekend and will be made up tomorrow afternoon on the Yellow Jackets’ home courts.
Anson and Potapova posted a 3-0 record in doubles play, recording a win over the 45th-ranked team in the nation, Tulsa’s Daniela Muscolino and Carla Zabaleta in the first round, SMU’s duo of Jenny Langer and Jennifer Chay in the quarterfinals, and Ristine Olson and Courtney Zauft of Texas in the semifinals. Miller and Silverio’s path to the finals included wins over Baylor’s Iva Mihaylova and Klara Zrustova in the opening round, the nation’s top-ranked doubles team of Arizona’s Dianne Hollands and Maja Mlakar in quarterfinal action, and Helena Besovic and Karla Mancinas of TCU in the semifinals.
Georgia Tech swept the singles and doubles main and back draw bracket championships, led by freshman Kristi Miller with a perfect 6-0 record in singles play to secure her first collegiate tournament title. Potapova earned the singles Green Back Draw title, competing against teammate Lindsey Stauss in the final match, while Kelly Anderson teamed with Arizona’s Stephanie Balzert to win the doubles back draw championship.
