CLEMSON, S.C. – The Jackets wrapped up day two of the Bob Pollock Invitational.
In their third meet of the new year the Jackets are starting to hit their stride.
“It’s great to see Bri Hayden race well today, almost a personal best and definitely moving in a positive direction. Also really awesome to see Bria Matthews back over 40 ft. in the triple jump. She has been working hard and it is paying off. Getting both Bri and Bria on the top of their game is huge for our team,” said women’s track and field head coach Alan Drosky.
Hayden finished the day in the 200m with a PR time of 23.99, and Matthews placed fourth with a 12.29 mark in the triple jump.
Tyler Whorton also did well finishing in seventh in the 800m with a time of 1:54.72.
“I was pleased with what the short sprinters (Maurice Simpson and Tyson Spears) accomplished this weekend. Wesley Watkins had a good meet as well,” said men’s track and field head coach Grover Hinsdale.
Simpson (6.83) and Watkins (6.85) each had a PR in the 60m while Spears finished 12th with a time of 6.95.
The Jackets will be in Ann Arbor Michigan for the University of Michigan Invitational on Feb. 1-2.
