Cross Country Travels To Crimson Classic

THE FLATS – The men’s and women’s cross country teams will make the trip to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the Crimson Classic this Saturday at Harry Pritchett Running Park on the campus of the University of Alabama. The men will begin things at 8:30 a.m. with an 8k followed by the women’s 5k race at 9:10.

The Georgia Tech women’s team will be one of 15 squads to compete, including nine USTFCCCA regionally ranked teams. On men’s side, 14 teams will race and six of those teams are regionally ranked.

The Yellow Jackets are ranked in the South Region with the women at No. 10 and the men sitting at No. 9.

Last time out at the Greater Louisville Classic, sophomore Katie Townsend crossed the line first for the Tech women in the 5K at Tom Sawyer State Park with a time of 18:00 for 98th place out of 267 runners. On the men’s side, Alec Clifford logged the top time for Tech (25:30) to finish 127th in the field of 255 competitors.
