Cross Country to Compete at Crimson Classic

Oct. 13, 2016

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams look to paint the course old gold and white when they take on the Crimson Classic hosted by Alabama on Friday, Oct. 14. The men will race in their fourth 8k this season while the women’s take on their second 6k.

The men will race at 10 a.m. ET and the women will follow at 10:45 a.m. ET.

October has proven to be good to the Yellow Jackets so far, finishing 1st on the women’s side and 2nd on the men’s at the Foothills Invitational on Oct. 1. Junior Haley Anderson finished first among the women with a career best time of 18:10.3. The Yellow Jackets turned in eleven career bests on the day.

Team update: After sending only seven men and six women to the Foothills Invitational, the Yellow Jackets are back up to full numbers for the Crimson Classic, racing 16 men and 13 women. On the men’s side, freshman Frank Pittman will run for the first time since being dubbed ACC Cross Country Freshman of the Week. Also racing is Nahom Solomon who led the Yellow Jackets in the first two races this season. One the women’s side, Anderson returns as well as Mary Prouty and Amy Ruiz. All three have led the Yellow Jackets in races this season.

The field: Among the teams running is Atlantic Coast Conference foe Florida State. Also included in the field is Mississippi, who is ranked No. 10 on the men’s side and No. 25 on the women’s. The Jackets will see some familiar faces in Troy, Kennesaw State and Georgia, all of whom the Jackets ran against this season.
