Cross Country Reports for First Practice

Aug. 23, 2016

THE FLATS – The sun hadn’t even hit the surface of the George C. Griffin Track on Tuesday morning when the 2016 edition of the Georgia Tech cross country team reported for the first practice of the season.

“We had a good first workout, testing both teams as the intensity was increased,” said head coach Alan Drosky. “We were just trying to get a first look at everyone, trying to gauge their fitness level after a summer of running on their own.”

Getting out before the heat set in, the squad ran five to seven miles with a good group from both squads hitting the targeted paces for the runs.

“Overall the results were positive and we were pleased with what we saw,” said Drosky of the first practice. “Both teams have a lot of potential and going forward we can begin to dial in and build off this first practice.”

The Yellow Jackets kick off their season at the UGA Invitational on Sept. 3.
