Cross Country Releases 2017 Schedule

Aug. 3, 2017

THE FLATS – Featuring four regular-season meets before championship action, Georgia Tech cross country head coach Alan Drosky announced the 2017 schedule on Thursday.

“The schedule will challenge both our men’s and women’s teams and we’re excited about it,” Drosky said. “The competitions at Georgia and Alabama will give us a great look at some strong regional teams, and Paul Short is a large national level meet drawing teams from across the country. We’ll have an opportunity to see how we’re progressing as we lead up to the championship meets.”

The Yellow Jackets kick off the season at the Jacksonville State Opener (Sept. 1) before taking on the annual UGA Invitational on Sept. 9.

From there, Georgia Tech closes out the month of September with the Paul Short Invitational on Sept. 29 before heading to the Crimson Classic (Oct. 13) and then the ACC Championship.

NCAA postseason competitions will be hosted by Tuscaloosa, Ala. (NCAA South Regional) on Nov. 10 and Louisville, Ky. (NCAA Championships) on Nov. 18.

The women’s team returns junior Amy Ruiz, junior Mary Prouty and sophomore Mary Claire Solomon. Ruiz finished as the top Jacket in the most meets last season with Prouty right behind as the top finisher twice.

The men’s team returns senior Nahom Solomon, sophomore Frank Pittman and junior Mitchell Sanders. Solomon was the top Jacket in all but one meet in 2016 while Pittman was two-time ACC Player of the Week.
