THE FLATS – No. 30 Georgia Tech women’s cross country will travel to Madison, Wisc., to battle it out in the NCAA Championships, hosted by Wisconsin at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The women’s national championship will be broadcast live on FloTrack, with the race beginning at 11:45 a.m. ET.
The Yellow Jackets join the best of the best in the nation after earning an at-large berth and its first team berth since 2001.
Tech had a terrific race at the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Fla., to finish fourth overall, jumping one spot from their regional rankings entering the meet.
Pacing the team to its best regional finish since ’01 was Amy Ruiz, who logged a 15th-place time of 21:03.4 to earn all-South Region honors. Also earning all-Region was Hana Herndon, who led the Jackets for much of the meet before officially placing 22nd with a time of 21:12.2.
In total, the White and Gold finished with five in the top 50, with Nicole Fegans also scoring with a 30th-place 21:17.3 time. Liz Galarza (21:34.2 – 40th) and Hailey Gollnick (21:35.6 – 43rd) rounded out the Jackets’ top five scorers. Mary Prouty (21:56.7) and Ellen Flood (22:06.5) also fought hard on the day.
