THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country squads head to University Park, Pa., for the Penn State National Open Friday, Oct. 12.
The women’s 6k is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. while the men follow with a 5.2-mile run at 11:15 a.m. Tech will compete against a total of 30 teams for its third meet of the season.
Tech women prepare to take on four top-30 teams in: No. 14 Michigan State, No. 19 Penn State, No. 27 Utah and No. 29 Princeton. In the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches’ poll the women came in at No. 26, marking the second-consecutive week the Jackets have been ranked in the top-30, which is the first time in program history.
On the men’s side, the Jackets will clash with six top-30 teams: No. 16 Arkansas, No. 18 Eastern Kentucky, No. 19 Virginia, No. 27 Iona, No. 29 Georgetown and No. 30 Virginia Tech.
Tech looks to keep up its momentum this season as the women finished second at the Battle in Beantown, while the men placed ninth. Mary Prouty has led the women throughout the first two meets grabbing two top-10 finishes and searches to continue her successful senior campaign.
