A key member of the Georgia Tech golf program for the 12 years as coordinator of operations and development, Vicky Newman was named assistant coach for the team in May of 2006.
Having accumulated experience in marketing, public affairs and television operations, she joined the Tech staff as administrative assistant to head coach Bruce Heppler in July of 1995.

The native of Cartersville, Ga., who now lives in Atlanta, Newman came to Tech after spending two years at Turner Broadcasting System as a public relations representative and a member of the tour staff. While at Turner, she worked with Turner Marketing Retail Group to promote CNN’s VIP Tour, TalkBack Live program and Turner Studio, as well as delivering presentations for corporate clients and guests.
Prior to that, Newman was a marketing coordinator for The Job Connection in Atlanta, and also worked for Cablevision Channel 4 in her hometown of Cartersville.
Since her arrival to Tech, overall donations have totalled over $3,500,000, including two new endowed scholarships. She is responsible for the administration of the program’s annual fund-raising golf tournaments and the Georgia Tech golf summer camp.
An actress in her spare time, Newman has had non-credited roles in such feature films as [quote]Remember the Titans[quote] and [quote]Road Trip.[quote] She also played the role of Vera in a production of the musical [quote]Crazy for You.[quote]
Newman graduated from the University of Georgia in December of 1992 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in journalism and double minor in English and speech.
