Clooten’s personal-best mark of 194’00” came on her third attempt in the meet, and was good enough to hold on for second place. The Fairbanks, Alaska native already regionally qualified for the NCAA’s last weekend at the Hurricane Invitational, but extended her top time on the season by nearly 10-inches.

Hern’s regional qualifying toss came at a distance of 189’00”, giving her third-place on the day. The Clinton, Wash. Native has now regionally qualified for the NCAA’s each season of her collegiate-career.

The Yellow Jacket Invitational continues Saturday with the women’s shot put at 10:30 a.m.
