GREENSBORO, N.C. – Coming off a 2-0 weekend, including a victory over a top 25 opponent, Georgia Tech men’s tennis collected a pair of weekly conference honors. Carlos Divar was tabbed ACC Co-Player of the Week along with being named to the ACC Doubles Team of the Week with teammate Phillip Gresk.
Divar went undefeated over the weekend, posting a 4-0 mark between singles and doubles action. The junior was instrumental in leading the Jackets to victory in wins over No. 21 NC State and Louisville. In the win over NC State, No. 62 Divar defeated No. 22 Alexis Galarneau, 7-6 (7), 7-5. Against Louisville, Divar faced another ranked singles player in No. 115 Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff. Divar’s 7-5, 6-3 victory over Morin-Kougoucheff helped seal the 4-1 win for the Jackets and improve their home record to 10-2 on the season. In doubles, he helped the Jackets win both doubles points over the weekend.
The doubles duo of Divar and Gresk has been a steady force for the Jackets this season compiling a 12-4 record. The duo went 2-0 over the weekend defeating two ranked teams in No. 47 Galarneau/Michael Ogden, 7-6 (7) of NC State and No. 90 Morin-Kougoucheff/Fabien Salle of Louisville, 6-1. Divar and Gresk helped the Jackets boost their record to 10-9 overall over the weekend, including going 10-2 at home this season.
The Jackets return to action this weekend, traveling to face No. 27 Notre Dame and Boston College.
