Tony Burkhardt, Talisa Kellogg, and Elizabeth Stowe were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, Oct. 24, 2005.
Burkhardt, a junior from Phoenix, Ariz., led the Yellow Jackets on the springboards at the ACC Quad Meet last weekend in College Park, Md., to help the Jackets finish 2-1. He won the three-meter springboard with a lifetime-best and NCAA Zone qualifying mark of 341.90. On the one-meter board, Burkhardt finished second with a score of 279.40.
Kellogg, a freshman from Westerville, Ohio, led the volleyball team to three conference victories. In Tech’s win over Clemson, she posted 17 kills and 10 digs and had a career-best three solo blocks. Later in the week, she helped the Jackets to a 3-2 win over Virginia Tech, recording 18 kills and adding three blocks and two service aces. In the final match of the week, Kellogg posted a career-best 35 kills and hit .311 in Tech’s win over Virginia. Her 35 kills were the most in school history since the inception of rally scoring and the most recorded at Tech since the 1994 season.
Stowe, a sophomore from Lawrenceville, Ga., tallied a pair of first-place finishes to lead Georgia Tech at the ACC Quad Meet, hosted by the University of Maryland. Stowe, a sophomore from Lawrenceville, Ga., clocked a season-best time of 4:56.66 in the 500-yard freestyle and swam a time of 10:03.73 in the 1000 free. She also swam a leg of the 400 free relay team that posted a season-best time of 3:31.67.
