ATLANTA – The Georgia men’s tennis team claimed top honors on the final day of the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational this afternoon at Bill Moore Tennis Center.
Brandon Wagner of UGA defeated Tech freshman Alex Novinkov, 6-2, 6-4, and Georgia’s Nicolas Boeker topped Yellow Jacket freshman Joao Menanon, 6-3, 6-2, to win their respective flights. In the singles championship, Wagner defeated Boeker, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Georgia also won a singles consolation match. Will Glenn gave the Bulldogs’ their third victory of the day with a 6-3, 6-7(7), 6-3 win over Tech freshman Amit Taggar. In the day’s other consolation match, Kentucky’s Reven Stephens defeated Yellow Jacket senior Sergio Aguirre, 7-5, 6-4.
The doubles final also featured a Georgia-Georgia Tech matchup, and the Yellow Jackets once again fell short. Aguirre and Taggar fell to Demetrias Leantis and Todd Carlson, 8-3.
The Yellow Jackets travel to Columbia, S.C., for the South Carolina Fall Classic next weekend.
