GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech senior middle blocker/right-side hitter Brittany Roderick has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week it was announced Monday afternoon. Roderick led the Yellow Jackets to a 3-0 weekend as they won their own Courtyard Classic with wins over Clemson, Southeast Missouri State and Ole Miss.
Roderick was named MVP of the Georgia Tech Courtyard Classic as she averaged 2.54 kills and 0.77 blocks per set while hitting .429 on the weekend. The Orlando, Fla., native tied a career-high with 15 kills in Tech’s win over Clemson Friday night in the ACC opener. She began the night a perfect 8-for-8 in attacking against the Tigers and finished with a career-high .619 percentage. Roderick committed just six attacking errors all weekend while adding seven digs and 10 total blocks.
Roderick becomes the second Yellow Jacket to be named Player of the Week after freshman outside hitter Monique Mead earned the honor on August 31.
Georgia Tech (7-2, 1-0 ACC) will play in its final tournament of the season this weekend before ACC play kicks into gear. The Yellow Jackets head west to participate in the Pioneer Classic in Denver, Colo. and the trip will mark a homecoming for a pair of Jackets. Senior Chrissy DeMichelis (Aurora) and freshman Jordan Kissman (Centennial) will both get a chance to play close to home. Tech will take on host-Denver Friday night at 9:30 p.m. (ET) and then battle No. 9 Minnesota on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. (ET).
