THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field junior Brandon Lasater was tabbed to the 2014 Capital One All-District 4 Academic Team announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The Perry, Ga., native maintains a 3.56 cumulative GPA in electrical engineering. The Academic All-District honor marks the second of his career and he is now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
Lasater is set to put the finishing touches on a stellar junior campaign at Georgia Tech, competing in the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla. this weekend in the 800 meters in hopes of advancing to the NCAA Championships set for June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
He is the 2014 ACC Indoor 800-meter champion and placed second in the event at the 2014 ACC Outdoor Championship. Last season, Lasater won the 800 meters in the ACC Outdoor Championships and was named a 2013 USTFCCCA honorable mention All-American after finishing 22nd in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.27 at the 2013 NCAA Championships.
Student-athletes are eligible for consideration if they maintain a minimum 3.30 grade-point average for their academic careers and are starters or important reserves.
