ATLANTA – Georgia Tech freshman Chris Bosh has been named to the all-District 5 first team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, the organization announced Wednesday.
Bosh, a 6-10 freshman from Lancaster, Texas, was one of 150 players named to the all-district teams. Five-man first and second teams were named in each of 15 districts. District 5 encompasses the Atlantic Coast Conference region.
The district 5 first team also includes Josh Howard of Wake Forest, Julius Hodge of NC State, Travis Watson of Virginia and Steve Blake of Maryland. The second team includes Edward Scott of Clemson, Dahntay Jones of Duke, Bret Blizzard of UNC Wilmington, Drew Nicholas of Maryland and Rashad McCants of North Carolina.
Bosh leads the ACC in field goal percentage (57.1) and blocked shots (1.95 per game), and ranks high in several other categories, including ninth in scoring average (15.6), second in rebound average (9.5), first in offensive rebounds per game (3.45) and 15th in free throw percentage (73.6).
Nationally, Bosh ranks third among freshmen in field goal percentage and second in rebound average.
The freshman has recorded 10 double-doubles this season in points and rebounds, and has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week four times.
